Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between denoise and sharpen?
Denoise smooths grain and colour speckles — especially from low-light phone photos — while preserving edges. Sharpen (unsharp masking) increases edge contrast so details look crisper. Used together, denoise first, then sharpen gives the cleanest result.
Is the Light Clean preset really free?
Yes. Free users can use Light Clean and adjust both sliders up to 30. Pro unlocks full 0–100 strength and all presets (Balanced, Low-Light Clean, Detail Boost, Portrait Soft, Max Restore).
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Denoise and sharpen run pixel-by-pixel in your browser via the Canvas API. Your images never leave your device.
Why does a large photo take a few seconds?
Edge-preserving denoise inspects every pixel and its neighbours, so high-resolution photos take longer. Processing yields back to the browser as it goes — keep the tab open and it will finish.
Will this fix a very blurry photo?
Sharpening improves soft edges, but it cannot recover detail that was never captured (heavy motion blur or missed focus). For enlargement, pair this with the Image Upscaler.
